Offering Envelopes Available

If you are not currently using Fishburn offering envelopes, but wish to start, please contact the church office.  We can give you a box to finish out this year (2010).  Also, the boxes for 2011 arrived and we are working on labeling them.  If we know now that you want a box, it will help us organize this project.

Fishburn College Student Addresses Needed   -   Donations for Care Packages Needed

Fishburn wants to make sure our college students are not forgotten while they are away.  But we need their address and email information.  Please pick up a form from the Welcome Center Table or fill out the one that will be sent on a separate email.  Return it to the church office ASAP. 

            To help keep in touch with these students, let them know we care and are praying for them, a care package will be sent to them later this month.  You can help by donating items.  Please drop off donations in Welcome Center Container by Sept. 19.  A list of suggestions will be sent on a separate email.

Children’s Sunday School

• JAM  - Two students memorized their Bible Verse – Josh Potteger and Joe Nichols.  Good work guys!

Bethesda Mobile Mission

Some of you joined Wallace & Jenny Greene last month, assisting Bethesda staff members as they served those on the streets of Harrisburg.  This event takes place the 2^nd Saturday evening of every month, next one being Sept. 11.  If you are interested in helping or have questions, please contact the Greene’s at 533-4856 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Youth News

BIG FISH Youth Group Correction - Weekly gatherings did NOT start Wed. Sept. 1 as first advertised.  They will begin Wed, Sept. 15 – same date as Kingdom Kids.  Supper at 6 pm.  BIG FISH is 6:30-8:00 pm.  There are many great events planned for the year, so come on the 15^th to hear about all the events.  You won’t want to miss it!

BIG FISH Lock-In:  Fri, Sept. 17 at 6 pm through Sat, Sept. 18 at 9 am. Sign up ASAP with Youth leaders.

Fireside Chat - If you cannot make BIG FISH on Wednesday nights, come to Wallace & Jenny Greene’s home on Sunday evenings.  The evening will consist of Volleyball, Proverbs, Prayer & Campfire.  If raining or too cold it becomes Wings & Word inside.  Fireside Chats begin Sept. 12, 6:30-8 pm.

It’s a Girl!

Julia Ann Blough was born Thu, Aug 26 (7 lbs, 5 oz and 20 inches long).  Congrats to her parents, Lisa Ann and Chad Blough and great-grandparents, Joyce and David Siebert.  Do pray for Lisa as she did have a C-Section.

Additional Esther Bible Study for Women

Wednesday Night Meal Program Looking For Support

Last year’s Youth and Kingdom Kids (and teachers) were blessed to share supper together before they began the evening events.  In order for this ministry to continue, they will need financial support.  If you can help, please mark your offering envelope or donation for Wednesday Meals and place it in the offering plate or mail to the church. 

Why do we need to feed everyone?  We don’t, BUT:

• It has allowed some kids to come to Kingdom Kids and Youth Group that do not have time to go home first.  Some come directly from the Flock to Kingdom Kids or from other activities (sports, dance, marching band, etc).
• Most of the adult helpers/teachers have full time jobs.  By providing the workers and their children a simple supper, we give them more time to concentrate on the ministry.
• What better fellowship time than sharing a meal together.  The kids experience fun and fellowship and the adults have time to connect with other parents and volunteers and meet their children’s friends.

Special Note from Church Office

There are so many wonderful things happening at Fishburn and it is very exciting!  But it is also difficult for me to keep up with everything.  You can help me in several ways:

• DO NOT tell me important information on Sunday morning.  This is my day of worship and rest.  Besides, when someone tries to give info to me in passing – I forget it by the time I get to the office on Monday.  Leave me a note in my mail basket in the Resource Room, drop it in the offering plate, email me or call the church office.
• DO NOT let me pester you on Sunday morning – we all need a time of rest and I forget and grab people to give them things, remind them of important items, etc.  Help me help myself and you by remembering the Sabbath.
• Did I forget adding something to the Broadcast or bulletin? Did I mix up specifics on the info you gave me?  Please forgive me and contact me in the church office ASAP so I can make the corrections.
• I need minutes from ALL committees and groups.  I use minutes to mark activities on the church calendar, to make sure there is a place for you to meet, advertise the events you have planned, and much more.  PLEASE make sure your committee takes minutes and passes it on to others.
• Send out an email or phone calls to remind individuals of committee meetings.  A week prior to the date is helpful.  Make sure a committee member (possibly secretary or chair) takes care of this on a regular basis. I try to get all events on the weekly church calendar and in the Broadcast, but your members may not see it.  The more avenues of spreading info, the better results.
• Get info to be advertised to me ASAP.  I definitely need all material by Tuesday mornings in order to get it into that week’s Broadcast or bulletin.
• I LOVE seeing you and visiting with you, but I just don’t have the time while I am in the church office.  With all the added activities, I really need office time to get everything done.  Help me, a chit-chatter, by not stopping by to say hello.  Also, when I get chatting too much, remind me I need to get back to work!
• Last but most important, I cherish your prayers and all the support you give me.  I do love this church and this job.  You all are awesome! What God is doing at Fishburn is awesome!  Thanks for helping me and loving me.

• Many sign-up sheets in Welcome Center – check them out. Sign up ASAP.
• Several adult Sunday School Classes begin or start up again on Sept. 12.  See Aug. 26 Broadcast for details.
• Soup, Sub, Sandwich orders due Sunday, Sept. 5.  Funds raised help Elevator project.
• Adult Choir Rehearsals begin Thu, Sept 9, 6-7 pm.  Children’s Choir Rehearsals begin Sun. Sept 12, 10-10:15 am.
• Grandparent’s Day on Sunday, Sept. 12. Bring them to church – we would love to meet them!
